A Christmas Story...

It’s hard to believe Christmas has come and gone. Now comes the worst part...the clean up.

We had a great Christmas weekend. Friday we volunteered at the additional Christmas service at church. Brian stood outside in the cold and waved his heart out to those passing by. I, along with a few others in our LifeGroup, stuffed glow sticks into bags. It was the easiest job and we were done in 10 minutes. The band rocked “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” like you’ve never heard before.

Saturday, Ethan and I hit the stores with our last minute shopping. I know- I’m crazy. Shopping Saturday before Christmas with a 2-year old! But honestly, it wasn’t that bad. I was determined to get Ethan’s picture with Santa no matter how long it took. We went about lunch time. The plan was to stop by the food court and grab some chicken nuggets to keep E occupied in line. I drove to the mall and parked the car. Went in and there were only 4 people in line to see Santa! Ethan sat on his lap, said, “Cheese!” and we were out of there. From park to back in the car 30 minutes! I know- unheard of.

Sunday we decided to go out for a Christmas dinner just the three of us. Then we wandered the mall and Best Buy still looking for a gift for my dad. We left both places empty handed which meant Monday I went out still looking.

Christmas Eve we always spend with Brian’s family. Usually Paige and Ben are at their Dad’s in Dallas, but they were both here this year. We went to our traditional dinner at Olive Garden but opted out of a movie due to the presence of the 2-year old. We had a great time playing games and opening gifts. Teresa gave me a beautiful votive holder that will now sit on my fireplace.

Christmas morning we spent at our house. I couldn’t sleep and got up at 6:00am. I waited until 7:45am when my boys finally decided to get out of bed. Ethan was a little crabby. You can tell by the pictures and the scowl on his face. But then he saw Santa’s gift and his face lit up.

He had so many gifts. I don’t even have the words to really explain the amount of gifts this child received. Maybe this will help... About half way through the gifts Ethan didn’t want to open anymore. I think his exact words were, “ No- YOU open it.” Seriously. We ate Orange Rolls and then headed to Mom and Dad’s.

The rest of the day included lots of presents, food and more food, and by the grace of God, a nap.

Yesterday, Lacey went shopping with us. I think my favorite find was a swing jacket from Ross (similar to this but black and white not gray)

or

my trouser jeans from Target.

I’ll try and post some pictures. Lord knows I’d rather do that than take down the tree.
