I called my mom this weekend to say if someone at my house had drawn Dad’s name for Christmas, what would said person buy for Dad? Her reply was, “Well, a gift card to Lowe’s would be good, but I know how you feel about gift cards.”
Yes, let’s talk how I feel about gifts cards.
I have, in the past, always been very anti-gift card if I am the giver. Especially at Christmas, I like gifts to be personal and special. However, there are times the gift card is appropriate. For instance, two years ago I gave a gift card to Tony to the Guitar Center. He loved it. He could go and spend hours in that store and never get bored. But I could not have picked something out for him. It was like a personalized gift card. And I know I’ve given Deborah a Starbucks gift card.
On the flip side, the gift card is a perfect gift for me. It requires me to purchase something for myself. I tend to spend my Christmas money on other things like paying bills or Ethan or Brian. I always have.
I am beginning to rethink my antigiftcardedness. What do you think about gift cards?

I think practice was productive. We need about another week of productive practices!
I adore gift cards because I love to shop, but like you, I don't like to give them.
I like getting them to some places, but I don't like giving them either. Unless it is a Starbuck's gift card!
You better get busy, lady!
So, do you want to work on the hats and stuff tomorrow night in our hotel?
