We had a great time in Las Vegas! We arrived at the airport to check-in on Thursday and waited and waited. Finally someone came around and said the computer had crashed and it should be up shortly. Shortly turned into an hour. We finally were able to check-in and headed upstairs to security. Brian’s license was expired so he as automatically put into the “pat down and search” category. I’m not quite sure what exactly they were looking for in his shoes but one man swiped a cloth inside the shoe and passed it to a woman. She then ran it through a machine that beeped and they said he could go. It was bizarre.
The plane was very crowded. It was like American’s planes before they took out seats to make more room. The majority of people started drinking ON the plane to get a head start on all the “fun” that is Las Vegas. I felt kind of silly asking for a Pepsi on the plane. I’m pretty sure the people around me thought I was a complete party pooper. To which I said- oh well.
We arrived in Vegas and headed to the rental car place. Got in a car and drove to the Monte Carlo where we were staying. Or thought we were.
The Monte Carlo was gated off and there was no way to enter. A security guard told us it was closed. CLOSED? I have a reservation! Well, turns out the Monte Carlo had a fire back in January and they were reopening on the 15th. We arrived on the 14th and it was still closed. Turns out they had relocated us to the Mandalay Bay (ohmygosh- plasma flat screen tv IN THE BATHRROM nice) but no one told us. Jeff and Michelle were still staying at the Monte Carlo because it would be open when they arrived. So, in spite of the totally awesome room at Mandalay Bay at the Monte Carlo rate we decided to move back to the Monte Carlo with Jeff and Michelle. And the lady who made our new reservations was an idiot (in my favor) and gave us the rate for next weekend and saved about $75! Thanks idiot lady!
Friday we went to the outlet malls. At The Children’s Place outlet I found two racks of clothing for $1.99 and 3 racks of $3.99 clothing. I stocked up on winter gear for Ethan. We also ate at Four Kegs. It’s a sports bar way off the strip with the BEST food.
When Jeff and Michelle arrived we went to dinner at Benihana for Jeff’s birthday.
Saturday’s highlights were In and Out burgers, margaritas at Diablo’s Cantina and Mystere- a Cirque de Soeliel show. Mystere was AMAZING! And HILARIOUS! And next time we go I am seeing LOVE. A Cirque show featuring the Beatles...or their music anyway.
I told Brian I needed one more day in Vegas to truly do everything we wanted but we had fun. And Jeff was surprised to see us. Michelle told him her parents were meeting them for his birthday. Boy was he glad to see us!
