Sunny Days Sweeping the Clouds Away

Ethan talks to all things as though they are living, breathing and have feelings. For example, the other day we were eating around the table. The green beans began to crowd the other items on the plate. Ethan firmly told the green beans, "SCOOT BACK!" He then moved them because, clearly, they were not moving fast enough.

Saturday on the way home from church he began talking to the rain. Because today is a rainy, cloudy, gloomy day it reminded me.

(It's also a little chilly which makes everything better. And by chilly I mean not 99 degrees. Cloudy, rainy, gloomy and humid are just not good together. I can do rain with a breeze. And a pot of soup.)

(With the slightest change in temperature my first thought is to make some sort of soup for dinner. Without fail. Tonight I opted to make bean soup with rice and a side of cornbread. I can hardly wait until dinner time. I started the beans about 6:30 this morning.)

You are welcome to join us.

(But call me so I can pick up the laundry off the chair in the living room)

Back to my story. We were in the car driving home and it began to sprinkle. From the rear of car I heard:

"Hey rain, just stop. Just stop raining rain. Okay? I just need it to be a sunny days. So go away rain."

It rained a little harder.

"Hey! I said go away! I JUST NEED A SUNNY DAY!"

Then we drove out of the rain so as far as Ethan is concerned...the clouds listened.
