At my last visit I had my gestational diabetes testing. My doctor's nurse called the Friday we were at Disney World. Normally, they don't call unless something is wrong. Fortunately, I passed my diabetes test but my blood work came back and showed I am slightly anemic. She told me to add an iron supplement each day along with my prenatal vitamins and I should be fine.
Mom pointed out that the anemia may be a reason why I am always so tired. Obviously, in any pregnancy being tired is normal, but I am overly tired. I also noted it might be the cause of my steak cravings! And now that I have a reason Brian doesn't look at me like I'm crazy when I say, "Let's have go get a steak!" For a time he thought it was just an odd craving. Now he suggests it more than I do.
Yesterday was my 30 week check-up. Emma looks perfect according to my doctor. She has a strong heartbeat and is growing just like she should.
Several weeks ago, my doctor asked me what her name would be. I told her it was Emma. She smiled and said, "Well, just a warning. I have an Emma and she is ORNERY! You might want to rethink using that name." We laughed and went on. Yesterday, during the ultrasound, my doctor caught a glimpse of Emma's face.
(Emma and Ethan are already very different. Ethan was always active during the ultrasounds. He'd bat at the doppler like he could actually see it. His sister, on the other hand, likes to show us her back side. Rarely do we see her face.)
Anyway, my doctor said showed us her face. Her mouth was open slightly. The doppler moved slightly and Emma ROLLED OVER! My doctor said, "Hey! You stinker. We were looking at you." She turned to me and said, "She just rolled over. Are you sure you want to name her Emma? I told you Emma's were ornery!" I just laughed.
I can't wait to meet this little girl.
(Dear God, Please know that I say that only as a figure of speech. I really can wait longer and prefer her to be fully cooked before making her appearance into the world.)
I don't want to jinx myself.

I can't wait to meet her either! When she's fully cooked, of course.
It was so great to see you this weekend. You looked beautiful!
That is so funny! Natalie & Kennedy each had their own personalities in utero which came true when we met them... N in her ultrasound pics liked having her hands up by her face & hiccupped all the time - true today. K was very active and moved around a lot - fiesty & a fireball today. So we'll see about your Emma Grace - I can't imagine her being orenry (sp???) though - she'll be as sweet as can be. Think Joel & Paul will be coming to OK on Sunday - wish I could come but don't have any time off from work and don't think me or the girls could handle an 8+ hour road trip yet. We'll miss seeing you, though! Love & hugs!!!
