Pray for the Starbucks boy

I had another one of those mornings that seemed like nothing was going right. I stopped by Starbucks on the way to work and suddenly all my worries seemed insignificant.

I pulled in the parking lot and saw a woman with two full cupholders (4 drinks in each one). My favorite employee followed her with another employee, both carrying the same amount of drinks or more. I parked my car and got out to walk in. I saw him sitting on the sidewalk. I thought it was odd but as I got closer I could see he was grabbing his leg and there was blood running down. The drinks were spilled all over the sidewalk.

Once I reached the door you could see the bone sticking out of his shin. Gross, I know. I stood there thinking, "What can I do to help him?" I have no medical training. So the only thing I could do was pray for him.

I went in the store and got in line. The girl in front of me ordered as I looked out the window and saw the ambulance arrive. Now, I have never waited for an ambulance but knowing people who have let me say, I have NEVER seen an ambulance arrive so quickly! The boy taking my order was so shaken up and preoccupied he hadn't noticed. I told him that it arrived and he looked outside. It was almost like you could see the relief he felt to know help had arrived.

My lesson learned this morning: I get so wrapped up in myself and things going on in my life, I don't stop to really think about others like I should. If you think about it today, pray for the Starbucks boy. You know, of all the times I have been in there and he has made my drink, I don't even know his name but Jesus does. Keep him in your prayers.
