Ethan and his concern for all species

The other night while I was making dinner, Ethan and Brian were outside. The door to the house opened and Ethan just looked at me, very seriously.

"Mom?"

"Yes, buddy?"

"Come 'ere."

"Why?"

"Just Come 'ere."

"What did you do?"

"Nothing. Just come 'ere. I found somefin."

I followed him to the garage not knowing what I would find.

He said, "I found some fishies. We need to get dem back to da water. We need to take da fishies back where day belong."

FISHIES? I had no clue what he could be taking about. There had been a lot of rain. Maybe he saw something in a puddle?

He took me over to Brian's tackle box. "See? Dare's fishies in dare. Day need to get out."

AH! It all made sense. I explained that the fishies weren't real. They were pretend fishies for when Daddy goes fishing.

"Oh." he said. "Okay." And he ran off to play.

I am one of the three people Beth has given permission to be in the delivery room- Scott, Mom and me. So, you can see that I really want to be there! It would be different if I was just sitting in the waiting room.
